Royal Albert Hall stages ethical debates for children studying science
Y Touring Theatre Company production encourages debate on clinical testing for home schooled pupils.

LONDON, ENGLAND, March 25, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As part of its ongoing educational work Royal Albert Hall's Learning & Participation Department has been hosting a series of debates on some of the ethical and moral issues in science. On Friday 19 March, as part of National Science Week, the Royal Albert Hall partnered with Y Touring Theatre Company to present a play about the issues surrounding clinical trials to 100 home educators and their Key Stage 4 students. The story showed a father's dilemma over whether his son should take an untested drug in the hope that it could slow down the symptoms of his condition, variant CJD. The intensity of the play triggered many questions from the audience and was the root of the debate that followed with Professor Max Parmar from the Clinical Trials Unit. The emotive play left the audience with much to think about and parents praised the play as a particularly relevant resource for home educators. "It definitely helps hearing from the experts," one said.
